Letty Jeffreys
I’m an experienced birth doula based in Haverhill, supporting families across Cambridgeshire, Essex and the surrounding areas.
I have experience in attending and supporting water birth, induction, home birth, hospital birth (both birthing centre and delivery units), twin birth, VBAC, HBAC, Caesarean birth, breech birth, assisted deliveries, supporting clients with severe perinatal depression, tocophobia and pregnancy and birth after loss.
More about me
You already know you want more than the standard level of support offered within the nhs.
You’re looking for someone who’ll know your story, not just your due date. Someone who’s there before, during and after the birth, not just for the big moments, but for all the little ones all the way through.
Someone you can text after an appointment because you’re not quite sure how you feel about what was said. Someone who’ll celebrate the exciting moments with you, sit with the worries and help you work through the overwhelming amount of information that suddenly seems to come with pregnancy.
If you’re honest, you’ve probably wondered:
What if nobody explains what’s happening?
What if I forget everything we’ve talked about?
What if my birth doesn’t go to plan?
What if my partner feels completely out of their depth?
What I really want is someone who’s been here before.
You don’t expect birth to be perfect, you just want to feel prepared and to understand your options before you’re asked to make decisions. You want your partner to feel included and confident, rather than wondering how they’re supposed to support you. However your baby arrives, you want to look back knowing you felt heard, respected and supported throughout.
The truth is, birth doesn’t always go according to plan. I’ve attended enough births to know that no two births are ever the same. I won’t tell you what your birth should look like and I won’t promise a particular outcome. What I will promise is this: I’ll get to know you, I’ll help you prepare for the possibilities, not just the ideal scenario (we’ll do that too though!). I’ll be a calm, reassuring presence when things feel uncertain, a trusted source of evidence-based information when decisions need to be made and a familiar face by your side throughout your journey.
After more than 12 years supporting hundreds of families through pregnancy, birth and the early days of parenthood, I’ve learnt that the families who feel most positive about their experience aren’t necessarily the ones whose births unfolded exactly as they’d imagined. It’s whether they feel informed, listened to and confident that they’re making decisions that are right for them.
Imagine this…
- You’re stepping into labour knowing you and your partner are not alone.
- You trust your body and have confidence in your choices.
- You have someone beside you who knows birth, believes in you and will advocate for you.
- You and your partner feel connected, confident, and calm.
- You meet your baby feeling powerful, not panicked.
That’s the kind of support I offer.
