Hi, I’m Kelly, I live in a small rural village (hence- The Village Doula) with my husband, two wonderful teenagers and our demanding black and white cat!
Our location allows me to conveniently support families in Essex, Suffolk and Cambridge.
I consider myself very fortunate to have been a ‘stay at home’ mum and I enjoyed all the delights and the challenges this brings!
As my children approached school age I trained to support teaching and learning in schools and enjoyed supporting children and their families for many years. Through schools I discovered Homestart – a wonderful organisation that assist families that for a wide variety of reasons require extra support. I have been volunteering with them for over three years now providing support through weekly home visits, group settings and even a baby massage course.
Supporting new mums confirmed my absolute passion for all things pregnancy, birth and babies, training to become a doula was the logical next step.
To support you and your partner at this exciting and special time is my absolute privilege.
I will provide both emotional and practical support alongside up to date evidence based information to enable you to make informed choices about your maternity care that suit you and your family.
Everyone’s pregnancy, birth preferences and family situations are unique and I will tailor my support to meet your individual needs, wishes and desires to help you achieve a positive birth experience – whatever that looks like for you.
I am able to support you and your partner wherever you decide to birth your baby- in a midwife lead unit, in hospital or at home. I am also able to support Caesarean births.
Following the birth of your baby I can provide practical and emotional support to ease your transition into parenthood. I can assist with breast/bottle feeding, offer guidance and encouragement on newborn care, run errands, look after baby whilst you rest/ sleep or shower or simply make you a cup of tea and provide a listening ear.
My aim is to make sure new and expectant mums feel safe, knowledgeable and looked after as they embark on all the ups and downs that being a new parent brings.
