Sarah Drawwater
Hi! I’m Sarah, an experienced doula based in Ramsey, a central spot in Cambridgeshire that allows me to work with families across the county and even into Lincolnshire, Bedfordshire, and West Norfolk too. You’ll often spot me in my brightly coloured dungarees and ever-changing colourful hair😊. While my colourful appearance might suggest I’m all about whimsy, I like to think that it reflects my creativity and how I love to embrace new things and ideas. Beneath that, I’m deeply practical, a problem solver, endlessly resourceful, and in my work always grounded in evidence-based support to meet my clients' needs.
People often describe me as having a calming influence—something I take great pride in. Whether it’s providing support during pregnancy, helping create a peaceful environment during birth, or supporting your family in the early postnatal days, I’m here to help you feel at ease and in control.
I’m also the creator of Birth Prep In A Box, a unique antenatal education toolkit designed to adapt to your learning style and needs. It’s a resource I’ve poured my heart into for some years now, and it’s used by both families and birth professionals to make antenatal preparation accessible to everyone no matter how you learn best.
I have been actively working as a birth doula since 2019, building strong relationships with families and gaining valuable experience along the way. My location in Ramsey means I work with a variety of hospitals, learning how they operate and what to expect—from the best places to park to who to contact in specific circumstances—which is a benefit I’m proud to pass on to my clients.

How I Work
Imagine us sitting together in the comfort of your home. Maybe we’re chatting over a cup of tea (I’m a big tea lover!) with the Birth Prep In A Box cards spread out between us. My approach is relaxed and flexible—no rigid agendas, no PowerPoint presentations. Instead, I bring warmth, intuition, and adaptability, tailoring our time together to suit your unique needs.
I offer unlimited antenatal visits because I believe in taking the time to build a strong, trusting relationship with you and your partner. It’s important to me that both of you feel supported, prepared, and confident as you navigate this journey together. My role is to listen, guide, and help you find your own way—not to impose my own ideas or opinions.
In what can be an intense time in our lives, with such a steep learning curve as we not only learn about our babies but also so much about ourselves and our partners too: I love to be your sounding board, your go-to cushion for a yell or a cuddle. Your window and filter onto a world of research and knowledge that lurks everywhere around us from the moment we step foot on our parenting story board.
What I Offer
As your doula, I bring a blend of practical tools and emotional support to help make your journey be as smooth and comfortable as possible. Here’s what you can expect:
-
Unlimited Antenatal Visits: We’ll spend as much time together as you need, exploring your options, answering your questions, and preparing for the birth you want.
-
Birth Prep In A Box: This flexible toolkit provides everything from flashcards to MP3’s and online resources, helping you feel informed all way.
-
Equipment Loans: From birth pools to TENS to birth slings, I’ve got practical items to make your experience easier.
-
Calm, Steady Support: Whether you need someone to hold space during labour or to help communicate your preferences, I’m there to support you and your partner every step of the way.
What You Can Expect
People who work with me often say that I bring a sense of calm to even the most intense situations. I’m instinct-led and highly adaptable, which means I can step into your home or birth environment and immediately tune into what’s needed—whether that’s curling up on the sofa for a chat, helping you explore evidence-based options, or being a reassuring presence during labour.
I’m not about telling you what to do or offering one-size-fits-all solutions. Instead, I focus on creating a supportive, inclusive environment where you feel safe to make the choices that are right for you and your family. I will take the time to get to know both you and your partner, helping them feel confident and prepared to step into their role as a supportive presence during birth.
Doula support without the cherry
When good antenatal education, information and support is the cake and in person birth support is the cherry.
As well as my all encompassing doula package I offer ‘doula support without the cherry’ for families wanting more than an antenatal/Hypnobirthing teacher but less than a full birth doula.
Ask me about my ‘doula without the cherry’ deal for more info.
A Little About Me
When I’m not supporting families, you’ll find me indulging in my love for chocolate or tackling a DIY project (I’m pretty handy during a hyperfocus phase!). I’m also a bit of a tech enthusiast, with a fondness for gadgets that make life simpler—like smart lights and voice assistants. My crocheted Muma, complete with a baby that can be birthed vaginally or by caesarean, often sparks a smile and a bit of laughter during antenatal visits. It’s little touches like these that I hope make you feel comfortable and supported.
Oh, and flapjacks are my go-to snack during births. They’re the perfect pick-me-up to keep me going through those long hours!
If you think we might be a good fit, I’d love to hear from you. You can reach me at [email protected] or visit www.TheNostalgicDoula.co.uk to find out more.
I’d love to support you to create a birth experience that’s truly yours.
